Europe 2025: By the Numbers
Buggy Teeth — Summer Wrap-Up
2025 brought our European chapter to a close… at least for now.
This year’s ride spanned 6,000 miles, carried us across 10 countries, and added 3 brand-new ones to our growing list of places experienced from the saddle. Four summers on this continent — almost 30,000 miles in total — and somehow it still finds a way to surprise us.
This season had its own magic. One special friend from the U.S. joined us, shared an unforgettable stay on a double-decker bus, checked off a massive bucket-list dream with our visit to Normandy, and discovered an adrenaline sport we probably had no business enjoying as much as we did. We even dove into one full-on “Fulehung” experience — a story better told over wine than written here.
And the numbers we’re most proud of?
Zero fall-overs. Zero dogs hit. Zero breakdowns. Zero traffic stops. Zero really close calls.
One better than last year… literally!
Launching the BuggyTeeth YouTube channel turned out to be its own roller coaster. A challenge, sure — hours of filming, editing, organizing clips, fighting Wi-Fi across borders — but somehow it made us appreciate our days on the bike even more. Capturing the moments forces you to see them. Telling the story makes you relive it.
And somewhere along the way, Europe stopped feeling like a destination.
It became a part of us.
When you ride a place long enough, the roads turn into familiar friends. Accents become comforting. And each village, mountain pass, and coastline starts to hold a memory you can feel rather than just recall. It’s the kind of goodbye you don’t rush — the kind you sit with for a while… and let settle in your chest.
Now we load Sterling into a shipping container for her winter journey — pointed toward a new continent, a new adventure, and the next leg of this ride around the globe.
So here’s our final number: one big question… Where do you think she’s going next?
Watch for Episode Three… coming soon.
And as always, ride along with us!

To ride across Europe, you typically need a valid motorcycle license, passport, insurance (Green Card if required), and vehicle documents. Some countries may also require vignettes, environmental stickers, or toll registrations. Always check each country’s requirements before crossing borders.
-
Most European borders are open within the Schengen Area, so you simply ride through. However, outside Schengen (e.g., Balkans, Morocco), expect passport checks, vehicle paperwork inspections, and sometimes questions about insurance or travel plans. Having documents ready speeds up the process.
-
Security comes down to layers: disc locks, alarms, trackers (Airtags/GPS), secure parking, and choosing accommodations carefully. We also rely heavily on insurance coverage and researching local theft hotspots. Nighttime security is key, especially in major cities.
-
Costs vary widely, but budget riders spend €60–€120/day. Fuel, lodging, ferries, food, and tolls add up quickly. France, Switzerland, and Scandinavia are the most expensive; the Balkans and Portugal are significantly cheaper. Long-term riders benefit from slow travel.
-
Late May through September offers the best weather. High mountain passes usually open in June and close by October. Southern Europe stays warm longer; northern and alpine regions change fast. Always check weather and road status daily in the mountains.
